Accountant Stole 350,000 To Play Online Poker - Walks Away A Free Woman!

Tags: fraud, London, Natalie Saul.
Posted on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 by "T".

Natalie Saul, a 37-year-old mother-of-one from Wansworth, South London, stole £350,000 from her technology firm primarily to feed an online poker addiction. According to DailyMail, Saul created over 400 fake invoices to get money from the software company between March 2015 and December 2016. She lost over £250,000 playing online poker during that time.

The scam was finally discovered by another accountant in December 2016 when Saul was on maternity leave. She only confessed her crimes after being approached by her employer.

Saul was sentenced two weeks ago

Judge Catherine Newman was initially considering a prison sentence of three years and four months but then changed her mind after talking to Saul's lawyer, who managed to convince the judge that Saul wasn't ‘fit for prison'.

Instead of three years behind bars, Saul was only slapped with a two-year suspended sentence, 250 hours of community work and ordered to pay £360 in costs, or just about £10 for every £1000 stolen from her company.

Judge Newman changed to a suspended sentence after finding out that Saul was a committed charity worker and a hard working responsible citizen always paying her taxes.

Judge Newman told Southwark Crown Court Saul was 'not the general stuff of which the prison population is made."

She added; ‘I'm taking a considerable risk that the Crown will think it lenient and appeal, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.'

If she would have put that money into bitcoin she would be able to pay back the money she stole plus some fine and still have some money left to play poker wizh during zjis time period...

Wow! £350,000? That is nearly US$500,000! I think £350,000 is a pretty good amount of money for a regular Londoner. And she lost over £250,000 playing online poker in 21 months? That's more than £10,000 per month! Seriously?
 shokaku8/23/2017 3:15:18 PM GMT
What is 10.000 per month if one plays higher stakes, and that quite bad? This could easily be blown in one session alone, cause i don't expect her to play NL10.

But what the judge did would be called collusion at the tables. Evil

Dropping 250,000+ GBP in just 20 months or so is pretty impressive even if she was a regular at NL500 or higher. The question is whether she lost money on purpose or not. It might have been a part of money laundering scheme. Who is (are) the real culprit(s)?

Yeah, kind of.
 Mober8/23/2017 7:55:15 PM GMT
What kinda of sentence was that.
Like you can steal a fortune from your work, in order to gmable
the money away and then get away with it, with 250 hours of community work
and 360 pounds payback?
Was that judge for real?

It will sure give ideas to others.
All they have to do is find a good lawyer after all, and pick that silly judge to run their case, right?
 pochui8/23/2017 8:04:13 PM GMT
ok this was a sentence out of the blue really, kinda telling everyone- hey fellas you are free to steal from your employers, commit fraud and then do whatever you want with that money and you will get suspended sentence and will be required to pay 1% of what you stole back...
 CALICUL8/23/2017 10:46:26 PM GMT
If I would steal I would do 7 years of prison. Instead this feminin delinquent and falsification of documents escape too easily. This is not normal. The law sleeps in her case. I would condemn this woman for committing more offences. This woman should pay for it.

This seems crazy that she could get away so lightly. I have known people go to jail for a lot less than she did and this makes a mockery of our justice system, it really is laughable
 pajalnick8/24/2017 3:11:11 PM GMT
She just happened tilt ...... in the beginning, she probably tried to win a little at the expense of the firm's money .... she did not get it and she began to recoup ... and everything only worsened and worsened ..... and Everything ended for some reason well
 Tony_MON7ANA8/25/2017 4:07:40 AM GMT
I am not familiar with the justice system in UK. But at first glance, the court decision seems unreasonable. Did the defendant agree to disclose a record or other information pertaining to the case? Do UK judges have to follow legal precedent?

Hello my friends and fellow mobsters
This judge must be the joke of the system Smile Smile Smile what is he thinking to let her go free ,wait maybe he is also a poker player that crossed her at the poker tables and won big from her so he his thinking ahead maybe she steals more and he wins again Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile

Stay cool and enjoy life
 Gerimantas8/25/2017 8:40:47 PM GMT
Yes to it is also soinds so strange and I think not what must be, I think this lady did a crime and because is guilty sbe has to be give bigger punishment. I think she also nust give all the koney she steals back to the owners of money and if she cannot then just gp tp jail
 Mober8/25/2017 8:46:05 PM GMT
Yea, this penalty must be recorded, like one of the silliest in the judging history Smile
No matter what, i doubt she even expected, that punishment at all.
Even if the judge had ruled to serve her jail time, in community work,
he would have been too lenient.
And yet 250 hours of it Smile

I think there is something else in the middle. I think this woman has relationships over to the English court in this way managing to escape with an offensive punishment for other thieves. Is not a right judgment is a direct favor. In my country for a bread is 3 year in jail. She stole a super luxury car if we compare it and escaped cheaply.

whenever I re-read this story it makes me feel wanting to go and steal from someone, like government, big businesses etc. I mean it's just good business to steal on such terms, you steal 100% and return 1%, 99% of stolen is yours, ok you have to split the profit with judge and lawyer... but you're still left with 50% i'm sure
 Mober8/26/2017 9:09:59 PM GMT
It doesnt give a lesson to no one.
Not the offender, or the ones that thinking of committing a crime.
Just follow the rules and give a bit less than usual, if you dont want to be that strict.
But this is ridiculous.
Still cant "digest" it Smile

I am a guy who believes very little in these sensational news! They sound like they are a movie or they make you at least the idea that it is so, because when reading the news there are several points that do not close. But of something I am sure: the robbery is a totally unjustifiable action and must be punished by the authorities of turn.-

If you are not using a service form a big company you kinda cheatin' them out of money. Don't go shopping to TESCO - you cause them to loose between 20-50 euro straight away. What better way is to 'stole' $ from them?
 Tony_MON7ANA8/28/2017 3:30:55 AM GMT
Tesco? Is that a discount store?
My problem is that I often buy items I already have because of the reasonable price. I still haven't used all these condoms I bought 5 years ago. And I just can't throw them away!!!
 xeperek8/28/2017 8:22:48 PM GMT
fit for prison lol. She stole such high amount of money that for lot of people is enough for life.

It's a popular supermarket chain across Europe originated from Great Britain. I am pretty sure your condoms are not safe to use after five years.
 damosk9/3/2017 8:29:26 AM GMT
WOW!!!!!!!! What an outcome. This is clearly no deterrent to others and will no doubt be subject of an appeal by the crown prosecution service as a very lenient outcome. Keep an eye on this one. Additionally, the argument that this criminal is not made of the stuff that belongs in prison is clearly a ruse. This person is clearly made of the stuff that belongs in prison.

These condoms may have lost their efficiency already, but that doesn't matter because I use a condom while jerking off myself. Can you imagine how many times I have flushed used condoms down the toilet?

that is, she learned to play a little .... it is certainly very good but very expensive it cost training .... of course she probably played free vince and her game seemed good ... and she decided that this is a chance to win .... I would like to play with her))) ... it would be interesting
 Mober9/5/2017 7:58:34 PM GMT
The article say she lost the 250k by playing online poker.
But doesnt mention anywhere, if she still has the remaining 100k.
Do you think she still has that money and they will let her keep it?
Probably she lost the rest in land casinos Smile
 shokaku9/6/2017 6:10:18 AM GMT
Yeah. How was the old saying: She lost 250k pound to booze and gambling, the rest she just squandered. Blink

But if she had at least half a brain, she would have hidden away at least some of the loot.
 Mober9/6/2017 8:30:31 PM GMT
These persons are hard to control themselves.
She wouldnt have stole the money to save it in the first place Smile
All she wanted was to gamble.
Plus it was installments, not the full amount, in one time.
There was no way she would stop before being caught.
