Event #62 $888 Crazy Eights NLHE 8-Handed has been bagged by Galen Hall, who outlasted a massive field of 8,598 player entries, winning his very first WSOP gold bracelet and the cool $888,888 top prize money after managing to hold on and survive 4 days of extreme poker action.

Apart from the $2.3 million he won as the winner of the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure main event, this WSOP event is by far the second biggest score in his poker career.

A hedge fund manager and part-time poker pro, the 33-year-old Galen came into the final table as one of the short stacks. After Philip Tom was eliminated in 8th place, he was at that time the second shortest stack with only 18 big blinds. Hall won a round with A-Q against Jeremiah Meisen's pocket tens, leaving him short and not long after that, Meisen hit the rail in 6th place. Hall went on to rise up the leaderboard by knocking out Alex Kuzmin in 5th place and bracelet winner Andrey Zaichenko in 4th place.

Hall then took the lead into three-handed play. The action was stopped for the night on Tuesday July 3, with the surviving players agreeing to take the next day off so they may play Day 1C of the main event.

In the end Hall won the $888 Crazy Eights event after defeating Eduards Kudrjavcevs heads-up.

It is good to have another champion in every year in most WSOP tournaments. To be honest, i do not like the known players to win many bracelets in many games because known players can earn more money in many games but strangers who have won WSOP tournaments have little chance of repeating these performances. Congratulations to the winners.

Wow, $888 Crazy Eights? I really like the name of the event. Massive congratulations must go out to Galen Hall for topping a field of 8,598 entrants to win the event #62 and scooping $888,888! There are a lot of 8s. It's a great achievement.
